KMS Men's J1-J2 Team

Monday, March 4, 2013

Guess it has been awhile for my blogging, my bad, March Madness setting in hard and I don't mean the basketball kind.

U16 States;  the second weekend at Stowe proved to be extremely tough on the field of 168 boys.  Saturday's GS was far from good conditions with soft snow, low light, a fast set, blowing snow and a 30mph tail wind down the upper pitch.  All these variables saw even the top skiers in the state going out, making mistakes and hiking to stay in the course.  5 out of the top 10 DNF'd first run and many others hiked, really changing the standings going into the second days slalom.
The KMS boys toughed it out but still needed some more fight which is exactly what we talking about in the nightly meeting.

The slalom had similar conditions but the boys came out to play today.  After the first run Ryan had a 4 tenths lead on the field and showed the NVC that the training down here in Mid hasn't been too bad.  Johnny, in 25th, Tomasso and Ian in the top half of the field, PSJ with a solid section but a hike and Graham and Spencer with a little ski trouble, T-boning if you will.

Second run Johnny sured up his spot to Easterns with a 9th for the run, Ryan, already in, missed out on the "W" but skied well up top.  Ian and Tomasso, skiing solidly put them into Finals.  PSJ, starting 95th was 36th for the run- nice job there!  And Spence and Graham continued to not want to keep their shoes on, an important part of getting through the finish.

on to the post season, and some USSA starts, March Madness continues....
