The "Loaf" day 4

Well, not quite as much snow as the weatherman said there'd be!
Still pretty good, Dani & Beers got some fat skis and had at it, Tyler slept in as he's not feeling 100% & I tried, but could NOT find any real boots to use.
Too bad as all reports were that it was fun today on the mtn.
Coaches went up @ 1pm and re set ALL of the fence from Kangaroo down (1/2) way.
We're headed up @ 7am to set the rest of it back up, SWEET!!!

Hoping for an 11:30 womens start tomorrow and guys right after that (12:30ish)
It's not 100% given the snow conditions, but we & the mtn have done a ton of work & I'm pretty sure we'll pull it off

all for now, we will be back @ KMS LATE tomorrow!

The "Loaf" day 3

Well, we got the women & about 30 of the men off today.
Have not seen results yet, but I know Beers was around 26th or so after starting 3rd (snow seed).

We pulled all of the fence off the hill after the race was called & we'll try and re-set it tomorrow afternoon and get a Super-G off on Friday.

This afternoon we'll be finding FAT skis for Dani, Tyler & Matt, tomorrow morning we'll hopefully be skiing 20 or so inches of POW!!!

Wed 1-28 training

Morning sport tomorrow at 7:30am. Be ready to train SG on needles at 8:45. Depending on the weather we'll see if we can run it and make the call in the morning. Be ready for SG and bring some free skiing skis if we have a bunch of snow. See ya in the morning

Speed Week

Well, we raced today!
The forecast changed dramatically since last night, so the organizers ran a race today instead of training run #2.

Results:
Beers - 60th
Flinn - 86th
Montick - 42nd

Some good skiing on the bottom in the faster sections, but we've got a little work to do in the more important technical sections up top!
Tomorrow the athletes should be a little more comfy on the big skis & hopefully gain a little time compared to today!

We're going to try and get a race off early tomorrow & then have hill prep Thurs for Fri's super-G.
I'll post asap if there are changes due to weather.

All for now
-Mike

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!

To all the athletes a race date has been changed in March. Cochrans ski area has moved the race from the 27th to the 16th. We are all going! It should be an awesome race! You can find vouchers in the back of your USSA competition guide. I'm making photo copies now in case some of you do not have access to the comp guide. So come find me if you need one!

Training on Needles Eye

The skiing was awesome today! Cold yet sunny. Most of the boys stripped down to their speed suits to really get a feel of the speed today. On Sunday we trained turn-shape on Bunny then we moved to some more challenging terrain today on Needles Eye. The turn-shape drill is fairly simple but extremely important. After the course is set one of the coaches sets a brush gate marker directly above the turning pole of the gate... approximately 4,6, or 8 meters above the gate, depending on terrain and judged speed entering the turn. The marker serves as a visual cue for the athletes to start the turn. The object of the drill is to stay above the brush. If you go under it then the athlete is going too straight at the gates and consequently starts having issues tactically/technically in the course. Today on steeper terrain some guys had issues holding the line above the brushes. I think they all learned a lot today and these VALUABLE training days should pay off when it comes to race day. We shall see who retains the skills. -Coaches

Sugarloaf Traing run #1

Hello again,

Well a great if not cold day of DHT today.
The entire field finished both men & women, set is good & challenging to go fast, but also very forgiving if you get off line!

Dani, Tyler & Matt all skied solidly, we did not wax for speed today & the lower splits reveal this! The upper splits were stronger & we'll see what happens tomorrow when we're more in the zone wax wise. All 3 got a feel for the track & are more confident going into the 2nd try; look for results on live timing starting around 10am for the girls.

Eastern Cup speed week

Hi All,

All for now

This Week's schedule

This is subject to change so keep checking back to make sure of day to day schedules. keep in mind there are a few training sessions scheduled in during class time those are only for guys who do not have classes or for those of you who have moved your schedule around. You are NOT able to skip class to attend these sessions... these are optional sessions not required for those in school. CLEAR?!... GOOD.

Sunday Session

Today was a bit cold up on the hill but the boys seemed to manage just fine. We trained GS turn shape on Bunny Buster. My camera malfunctioned on the hill so sorry we have no video. We did however bring out the radar gun to see how fast the boys were going. Top Speed was 45mph, Danny,Sam,Jimmy,Rob and Shane all hit 45mph. The rest of the boys were close behind hitting 43 and 44mph. The boys are starting to feel what is fast and what is not. I hope that parents understand that today's training was more beneficial than going to a race and getting 2 runs on a course possibly one. We had easily 10 runs in gates which is about 180 gates of GS. This week should be real good training for the boys. We have some great hill space available to us and the plan is to take full advantage of the opportunity. February first is our next race. It is a GS at Stratton and then we get into some State Championship events. This training block should help the boys going into those events. If you have any questions feel free to give a call. -Coaches

And good luck to Tyler and Matt up at Speed Week... Think like a bullet boys!!

For the guys that are going to Sugarloaf. We are leaving at 12:00 p.m. with the van packed and ready to go. With the limited room we have please pack what you need and only what you need (pack light). Guys that have ski bags please bring them so we can strap your skis to the roof rack. Bring your GS skis to slip on and your DH boards.
Entry fee for all three days is $110
Lodging will be $123 check made out to KMS(it changed cause one of the guys will not be going)
Then money for food, we will have a kitchen so we will be going to the store to buy some things for the week.

Schedule for Tuesday 1/20/09

Guys that are not going to Sugarloaf should plan to free ski on SL skis in the afternoon. There is SL training available for those who do not have classes in the morning. If you plan to train you need to be at morning sport at 7:30... I know its a Tuesday and reg schedule has us training at 7 but I'm guessing there are only a few guys that can train in the morning so we should not take up much of the gym. So to recap: If you can train in the morning be at morning sport 7:30. Otherwise be ready to go after advisory meeting, free skiing on SL skis.
