There are no classes on Thursday so we will be taking full advantage of this by training a double session! Thursday morning at 7:45 Vans will head for the slopes. Athletes should have GS skis and all the necessary gear for GS training. We will have to see what the snow is like on Highline. If it does not look good for setting a course we will free ski in groups with coaches. We will leave the hill around 11:30 to come back to school for lunch. The lunch menu looks fabulous! At 12:45 we will head to the hill with SL gear and train SL on Highline. After SL training we hit the gym for some balance work and core.

Change to Schedule!
Boys, I went up on the hill today and there is no way we can get a good GS course on highline... So we are going to switch to SL for tomorrow morning. There is no morning sport Wed am but the vans leave at 7:45am lifts open at 8! Day students please arrive prior to departure time... get some breakfast and take KMS transportation. We have 3 vans now, so it should be a more comfortable ride. :) Vans 5,6,9 Hope everyone had a good day off today... Chad Naro... where are you?!!!!

Training 12/29
Today was a great day of GS... Super SL on highline. The boys worked a lot on tactical adjustments and how to move more efficiently through the turn. As you can see in Tim's video there was not much room for error today. Mike and I were very impressed by the boys today, all of them learned something and improved from run to run and most importantly we all had fun... coaches more so, maybe. Great job boys! Tomorrow is a day off... then we buckle down for a solid week of good training.
Stay tuned. -Coaches

Okemo race
Real tough day for a lot of the boys. The visibility was not too great on the lower part of the course, I'd compare it to trying to ski in a glass of skim milk... not as bad as skiing in 2% milk.
Congrats to Matt Beers finishing in the top ten and fighting a good fight. Will Jaye moved from 98th to 33rd overall and was 16th on the second run, nice work Will!! And our third KMS finisher was Dylan Malone placing 52.

Attitash Day 3 & 4
Hi All,
Sorry I didn't post last night, but I was dead tired so I went to bed!
I'll start by saying that we're NOT racing today. The forecast was for 12-20" more snow and windchill of -17. Due to this the team captains made the decision to postpone the race & hold it at a later date(probably attched to another FIS devo series elsewhere).
Yesterday was one of the silliest ski races I've ever seen by the time the 2nd run was over!!!
The day started out well, but by the start of 1st run snow was coming down VERY hard.
1st run went off ok, it was then decided to group slip & run the same course again rather than re set. In my opinion this was a VERY smart decision as we would not have gotten a 2nd run off with a re-set! Immediatelly after the start of 2nd run a big square HOLE developed on the top pitch. NOBODY was able to avoid it and you could not see it! We finished out the run, but as the hole continued to develop it became increasingly hard to seriously try and move up the field. I think the results by Jim, Rob & Danny were fantastic when you look at their 2nd run times. The fact that Danny put his 2nd time down from the back 10% of the field was SUPER, my course report to him was to slide/stivot as slow as needed above the hole, get over it somehow & then continue thru the fresh powder the rest of the way! Seriously! Jimmy hit the hole, went mildly airborne and shinned the next GS panel to get back on line, his time is VERY impressive!
Below are all the results, please realize there was little or NO human error involved in the DNF's today!
RESULTS
Jim - 5th (2nd fastest 2nd run!!!!!!!)
Rob - 21st (from bib 68 & with a good 2nd run time!)
Danny - 55th (GREAT 2nd run after some issues on the 1st, I would not ski his 2nd course for $1000...seriously!)
Chad - DNS/2 shoulder wasn't feeling good yesterday.
Mark - DNF Tyrolia heel piece is now in two pieces! I saw it, would have finished, binding exploded!
Mike - Great 1st run, hit the hole, binding on 19 came off immediately.
Shane - Hit the hole
Tim - Hit the hole
We'll be leaving Attitash @ 10AM or shortly there after, guessing 2.5 - 4hrs back to Killington today.
-Mike

Attitash Day 2
Hi Again,
Some great racing today & some good results from the KMS boys, with a few fantastic single runs also! Snowed about 12-14 at the top of the hill so we had a little work getting it off this morning; but the field of guys did a GREAT job slipping and both courses were great!
1st GS day tomorrow, looks like we'll have good weather till about noonish if it holds out.
Looking like a pretty good dump up this way, so Monday could be in question... Let's hope it goes off without a hitch!
RESULTS:
Rob - 13th (5th fastest 2nd run & started bib # 72)
Jim - 16th (2 solid runs, definately more gas than yesterday!)
Tim - 17th (11th fastest 2nd run!)
Mark - 35th (Pretty good considering 1st run off course excursion)
Shane - 45th (All in all pretty solid, looking foeward to tomorrow!)
Mike - DNF (Absolutely GREAT 1st run (14th), small "line" issue into the only hairpin we covered in course report, skiing is fast though & I think he learned!)
Danny - DNF (Danny would like to use this space to thank Nordica for introducing abducted stance, aka"Duckfoot" technology into their equipment!)
Chad - DNF (Solid 1st run, Chad was caught off guard by the tricky set at the 2nd gate of the 2nd run, or the glare ice at the 2nd gate, or the soft powder at the 2nd gate, or the course marshall in the way of the 2nd gate, or the ...more to follow, not sure what happened, but Chad just didn't enjoy the courses 2nd turn!)
All for now, we'll do our best to rip'er in the GS tomorrow!

Attitash
Hi All,
Quick update from NH. I won't be able to upload video, but I'll do my best to get a quick report & results out night by night. Not a bad day today, with some great skiing along the way. The guys now have a better feel for the hill & a little more confidence going into tomorrow!!!
It's currently DUMPING outside, so we'll see in the morning what if anything will happen. Currently we're about 5-6 inches into a 4-6 inch initial forecast & it's only been snowing since about 2:30 or 3pm! We also picked up Shane for the remaining races, so our 2500 sq foot tuning room is getting a little tighter! (think we'll be ok)
If any of the guys have not gotten in contact yet, we're @ the
Attitash Grand Summit Hotel.
The phone number here is
(888) 554 - 1900
Jim, Chad, Tim & Danny are in room 103
Mike, Rob & Mark are in room 106
Shane will be in room 104
RESULTS:
C. Naro - 14th (10th 2nd run!)
M. Grundy - 21st (14th 2nd run!)
J. Ryan - 24th (Super strong skiing, planning on going a touch straighter next race!)
T. Spangler - 38th (put one down the hill, now we add a little more heat tomorrow!)
R. Visconti - 39th (from bib #73, nice little move up!)
M. Mitchell - 80th (BIG HIKE 2nd run / 46th 1st run from bib #80!)
D. Moore - DNF (great skiing 1st run until straddle about 1/2 way)
Best of luck to all the VT Cup boys @ Smugg's/Bromley & Chedlund @ the Eastern Cups this weekend.
All for now.

This Weekends GS Races
The first GS races are over and the boys skied very well. Chad Naro was second on Sunday. He won the second run but it was not enough to take the top spot. Jim Ryan put up a fast time on the second run as well he placed third for the run and tenth overall for the race. Other notable performances on the day were Mark Grundy ripping two fast runs and placing 11th. Rob Visconti placed 13th and Shane Hedlund was 14th.
Saturday at Okemo was a long cold day for the boys. Some of them had real tough conditions fro the second run. The light was real flat which made it hard to see the snow. Rob Visconti held nothing back and placed 8th overall. Chad Naro was second after the first run but had a big mistake on the second which moved him back to tenth overall. Rounding out the top 15 was Shane Hedlund.
Great Job boys!!!!

12/10
Today was a wash... literally. The rain and warmish temps took us to the bowling alley today. It did not make too much sense to get the boys wet/cold and compromise their health before these upcoming GS races. We're not getting soft on em... just want them to be healthy! :) Tomorrow we will train GS on highline in the afternoon. Morning sport is off for Thursday. PRAY for SNOW!!
Posted videos
Enjoy the posted videos, understand that it takes a while to upload them. So we will try and get everyone posted, but spread out over the season. We have some races this weekend so we will post more after those races.

The first slalom race of the season is over and done with! The KMS boys performed very well as a group. Some obviously better than others, but their day will come soon! It's a long season ahead! Congrats to Chad Hedlund for skiing away with a win on the home hill. Chad received a first place medal and a turkey for his solid performance. FYI coaches like turkey. Some other solid performaces included Rob Visconti in 8th place, Chad Naro in 17th, Shane Hedlund 25th, Mike Mitchell 26th and Mark Grundy 27th. The two Sams... Bateman and Scheu attacked from the back on the second run and put up some very respectable times. Good job!

Awesome day on the hill today. The kids skied a slalom drill course for the first 2 hrs and then we had them train a 20 gate SL until 11. The boys need some work but we are pleased with their skiing as a group. Tomorrow they will get on their GS skis for the first time this season and free ski for the afternoon. We welcome back Mike Mitchell, aka (Sasquatch) and our newest team member Will Jaye.
Last night we received a nice coating of snow and ice. The boys grabbed shovels and shoveled off the deck by the gym. Thanks gentlemen! And stay tuned. 5 days til race day!!!!
