Open DID-U at Middlebury yesterday

Yesterday Dylan, kip, and I went to an open die-u at middlebury. We were join by Mike Cahill for a warm and sunny slalom. The conditions were challenging both runs. First.run the snow was reasonably hard after temps dropped into the 20's the night before. Surprisingly the track held up reasonably well for the first 20 to 30 guys, but once it started to break through it didn't last long. Dylan started 51 and kip came down with bib 67. Dylan was skiing well but got launched out of a rut on the pitch and was forced to hike back up around the gate. He skied well on the bottom but was far out of the running. Second run he straddled on top and didn't finish.
Kip was more successful first run, he battled through the holes and skied himself up from 67th into 52nd on the run. Second run the course was in a little better condition after the application of plenty of salt, but it still was pretty beat up when kip started. He did a good job again second run persevering through the rough conditions and moved himself up onto 39th overall.
The guys are looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
