Stratton Devo SL day 2

Today was a bit more challenging than yesterday. About the time we finished inspection first run the snow started to fall, slowly at first and later building to near blizzard conditions. The snow on the race hill was extremely good again today, but it was covered with a layer of wet snow, making for some slick conditions. The first run set was considerably tighter than most of the slaloms that we have seen this year, but the guys did a good job adjusting to the tight turns and charging down the hill. Second run was much more like the rest of the races that we have seen this year, bigger distances with a bit more swing in places.
Dylan had a good day, skiing himself into 11th overall despite feeling sick all day. He scored a 60 point race today that will match up nicely with the 55 that he scored in Canada earlier this year. Kyle was our next finisher in 15th, 5th for j2's, scoring a career best 64 point race. Dan Scherding and Ben Scheu were our next guys finishing in 36th and 45th, they had solid runs but were slowed down by some mistakes. David Schindler had another great day moving up from 81 to 61 and scoring his best result to date with a 100. Behind David was Spencer moving way up from bib 107 to finish 69. With two fairly clean runs down the hill Spencer scored a 112 to help match with the race he scored earlier at West Mt a few weeks ago. Despite finishing first run with a blood covered bib after taking a gate to the face Jack Salisbury had a good day, moving up to 81st from bib 137. He scored his best slalom result to date with a 132.
Now that the slalom races are done for this series we are set to run GS for the next two days. With the new snow hopefully the groomers can get back down to the great surface that we have enjoyed for the last two days. I am hoping that the guys can take advantage of the great conditions and ski well the next two days. Mike Morin from SMS is setting the first run tomorrow and I am going to be setting the second run.
Congradulations to Wyatt Querolo for winning the SG at the K2 championships up in Canada today, and Kip did a great job finishing 3rd at the USSA SG at Attitash today.
Lets get fired up for another race tomorrow.
I will try to post an update after first run.
Stags
